Tax time is approaching, UGH! The thought of getting all those receipts together for the CPA …totally not my favorite. In the midst of it all, there a bit of good news coming from our government…yes, I did say it: “our government.”

With the terrible earthquake in Haiti, American’s stepped up to the plate and emptied their pockets toward the relief effort after the awful devastation. Many of us gave to organizations aiding in the relief efforts such as Convoy of Hope where to date over 6.5 million meals have been served to the Haitian people and in the coming days are planning to install up to 4,000 water filtration systems in that country.

Did you know that you can claim those tax deductions given in 2010 on your 2009 return? Congress passed a bill on January 21st that enables donors to deduct (on their 2009 income tax returns) charitable cash contributions made after January 11, and before March 1, 2010.
